Job Overview
MERA RD2, operating inside RDU International Airport, is looking for energetic, dependable, and customer-focused individuals to join our team as Cashier / Food Service Associates.
We operate multiple food and beverage concepts throughout Terminal 2, including Guy's Pizza Joint, Bongiorno & Son, and our Ready to Fly Grab & Go kiosk. This is an open position, and selected candidates may be assigned to any of these locations based on staffing needs, experience, and business demands.
Our goal is to provide travelers with a positive and memorable experience through friendly service, quality food and beverages, and efficient operations. Whether taking orders, preparing food, making specialty coffee drinks, or assisting guests on the go, our associates play an important role in delivering that experience.
We are looking for team members who enjoy working with people, can adapt to a fast-paced environment, and are willing to learn different aspects of our operations.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary depending on the assigned location but may include:
Customer Service & Cashier Duties
Greet guests and provide friendly, attentive, and efficient customer service.
Accurately take orders, process payments, and operate point-of-sale (POS) systems.
Develop strong menu and product knowledge to assist guests with selections and answer questions.
Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked cashier stations, dining areas, and service counters.
Assist with restocking products, packaging orders, and maintaining product displays.
Follow food safety, sanitation, and company operating procedures.
Work collaboratively with team members to maintain smooth operations during busy travel periods.
Location-Specific Responsibilities
Guy's Pizza Joint
Assist with preparing and assembling pizzas, sandwiches, and other menu items according to brand standards.
Help with basic food preparation, ingredient stocking, and packaging orders.
Maintain a clean and organized food preparation and service area.
Support kitchen and front-of-house team members as needed to ensure timely service.
Bongiorno & Son
Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based beverages, and other specialty drinks.
Assist with basic sandwich preparation, packaging, and order fulfillment as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of coffee equipment, service stations, and customer areas.
Restock beverages, ingredients, and supplies throughout the shift.
Ready to Fly Grab & Go Kiosk
Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based beverages, and other specialty drinks.
Assist guests with selecting grab-and-go food, beverages, and retail items.
Stock and organize refrigerated displays, shelves, and merchandise.
Monitor product presentation, freshness, and availability throughout the shift.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming kiosk environment.
Training will be provided based on the responsibilities of the assigned location. Associates may be cross-trained to support additional locations as business needs require.
Qualifications & Expectations
Previous cashier, restaurant, coffee shop, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
Strong communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.
Ability to learn menu items, food preparation procedures, and POS systems.
Dependable attendance, punctuality, and flexibility with scheduling.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine food service duties.
Willingness to follow all company, food safety, and airport security requirements.
Must be able to meet airport badging and security clearance requirements.
Schedule & Availability
Our locations operate in accordance with airport flight schedules, with operating hours generally beginning as early as 3:30 AM and extending until the last flight, typically between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Hours may vary depending on the location and airport activity.
We offer full-time and part-time opportunities, including morning, afternoon, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Candidates should have flexible availability and understand that airport operations may require schedule adjustments based on business needs.
Compensation
This is a tipped position offering competitive hourly base pay plus tips.
Depending on location, shift, passenger traffic, and business volume, employees may have the opportunity to earn additional income through tips.
Tip earnings vary and are not guaranteed.
